Dear Friends and Neighbours in Pine Meadows

“WARNING. There’s an email going around offering processed pork, gelatin and salt in a can. If you get this email, do not open it. It’s SPAM!”

One of the things stolen from one of the vehicles broken into a couple of weeks back was a key ring containing the master key for the Community Center. This meant that all of the locks in the Center needed to be changed. If you have a key for any lock in the Community Center, please contact Dana Burdenuk at the office to receive a new one.

One of the things we learned from that terrible fire which destroyed Lee Thorne’s car was that many of us do not have a proper fire extinguisher should we need one. Thanks to Peter Manning for sourcing out a local company located in Guelph. Wilson Fire Security Ltd. will sell and deliver 5 pound dry chemical fire extinguishers to Pine Meadows Residents for $52.00 plus tax. They will also complete a maintenance check on a fire extinguisher (usually every five years) for $30.00 – $40.00 plus tax. If you are interested in this service, please let me know (647-294-2980) and I will forward your information to this company.

I hope many of you had the opportunity to listen to the Carolers who sang Christmas songs in our community last weekend. Jackie & I saw them twice and fully enjoyed their performance. Thank you to Ann Thomson-King for setting this up and to all of the Carolers for braving the cold to entertain us. I know it made our Christmas more cheerful. I hope this activity can continue in the future.

Lately, the Board has been discussing how we can pass along compliments of the season to all of the residents. We agreed on a suggestion to deliver Christmas Cookies to every household by Board members. I know the Board Members fully enjoyed doing this as we all had an opportunity to meet residents we didn’t know and wish everyone a Merry Christmas. Thanks to the Solomons for making all of the cookies and for packaging and setting up the logistics to have all of the cookies delivered. I hope you all enjoyed the cookies and our visits.

Finally, it is my pleasure to announce the winners of the best decorated houses. This was a very difficult task for the Board as you have done an unbelievable job decorating your homes. We looked at homes during the day and at night. The three winners are, Clyde & Marni Henry at 164 PRR, Jim Bailey at 166 PRR and Tim & Linda Moore at 174 LBL. Special mention also to Shon & Karren Sorenson at 177 LBL, Ken & Judy Busch at 106 WBW and Casey & Betty Dykstra at 182 LBL. Congratulations to those people. To me, everyone is a winner. Some of us aren’t able to hang decorations, and some of us just don’t have the talent (that’s me), but everyone of us was able to enjoy the transformation of our community into a beautiful Christmas Scene. Thank you everyone. I hope doing this has brightened everyone’s spirits during this very different and difficult Christmas.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to Everyone

Joe Piercey
