Dear Friends and Neighbours in Pine Meadows

“There’s nothing like a little tomato soup to soothe the soul. Even if it’s cold, over ice with a celery stalk….and vodka.”

“Women spend more time figuring out what men are thinking than men spend actually thinking!”

As we continue the race between vaccinations and the Covid 19 pandemic, it is very evident that in Ontario the pandemic is winning. Even our own WDG Health Unit is experiencing more and more cases. Effective April 17 at 12:01 am. our Ontario government has instituted further measures in an effort to slow down the deadly rise in Covid cases.

Here is a brief recap of these additional measures:

·        Current stay-at-home order is extended for an additional 2-weeks, up to May 20th

·        Restricting / closing outdoor recreation activities (golf, basketball courts, soccer fields, tennis/pickleball courts, etc).

·        Closing non-essential construction (our construction projects are infrastructure related, so will be considered essential)

·        Restricting all outdoor gatherings / events to members of your own family only (singles can join one family)

·        Reducing in-person shopping at retail, grocery, pharmacy, and big-box stores that are permitted to open to 25% capacity

Unfortunately, golf courses, tennis and pickleball courts, shuffleboard courts and any other outdoor recreational facilities are not permitted to be open with the current order (except for playgrounds which have now been permitted). No outdoor gatherings of any size are permitted, only with members of your own household (singles can join another family or couple).

Domestic and personal support services for seniors are permitted in their home, including housekeeping, cooking, indoor and outdoor cleaning and maintenance services.  Maintenance, repair and property management services that manage and maintain the safety, security, sanitation and operation of residential properties and buildings are permitted, so residents are still ok to have contractors into their homes for repairs / renovations as needed with proper safety precautions in place.

This link to a CBC article has some interesting info as well about how to interpret the new rules: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/ontario-restrictions-what-you-can-what-you-cannot-do-1.5991941

Frustration doesn’t begin to define what we are all feeling, but we must remain positive that within the next couple of months we will overcome the virus with the majority of the population being vaccinated.

Please stay safe and healthy everyone.
