Dear Friends and Neighbours in Pine Meadows

“Today, I noticed that the cover of my ironing board was wrinkled, and I laughed at the irony. Then, I laughed again at the word “irony””

“If a woman says “Do what you want!” Do not do what you want! Stand Still. Do not blink. Don’t even breathe. Just play dead!”

Happy Easter Everyone.

Today, as a province, we are once again moving backward in our battle against COVID 19. The premier has applied the “Emergency Brake” or Shutdown or lockdown or any other term you would like to use. This third attempt to control the virus is absolutely the most controversial as many medical professionals are lending their opinions to the discussion. It should come as no surprise that there is confusion over the right approach to take as the virus, variants and vaccines change daily. However, it is what it is and we must together continue to follow the guidance of our leaders.

I wanted to bring you up to speed regarding what this next 30 days of shutdown means to our Pine Meadows community. Correspondence from Dana Burdenuk told me that there will be no indoor activities as the Community Center and Woodshop will remain closed. Outdoor activities such as tennis, pickle ball and shuffle board will be allowed while ensuring that masks are worn when distance requirements of 6 feet cannot be ensured. She drew my attention to the Ontario.ca website for details. Here is the link if you would like to read it for yourself. https://www.ontario.ca/page/enhancing-public-health-and-workplace-safety-measures-provincewide-shutdown  As more of our residents are being vaccinated, when these restrictions are lifted (hopefully in late April) we will be able to restart more activities.

Don’t forget to visit the Community Center from April 14th to April 28th to enter your guess of the number of jelly beans in the jelly bean jar. I hope I win so that I will have birthday and Christmas presents to last me the rest of my life.

One more item of note. As our homes age, they require necessary maintenance. Many residents have recently found that several of their windows need replacing as the internal seal has been broken and they are finding moisture between the panes of glass. Most of our homes original windows were made by Strassburger Windows and Doors in Kitchener. They appear to be the most economical for window pane replacement. Many residents have already made appointments with them. If you are experiencing a problem with your windows, give them a call at 800-265-4717.

Please stay safe and healthy everyone

Joe Piercey
