Federal Election on September 20, 2021

As in previous years, Elections Canada will set up a Polling Station in our Grand Hall on September 20th. They will be sure to follow all Covid-19 Health and Safety Protocols. This will make it very convenient for our residents to vote. If you would rather vote ahead of the election or by mail, please see the website at

https://www.elections.ca/content2.aspx?section=vote&document=index&lang=e

for instructions. The deadline for requesting a mail-in ballot from the website is 6:00 pm. Tuesday, September 14. You can also request a mail-in ballot by calling 1-800-463-6868.

Annual General Meeting of the PMHA

You have all received the AGM Package in your internal mail slots. This Package looks very much like the ones you receive every year prior to the meeting. It contains the minutes from the 2020 AGM meeting, President’s Report, Treasurer’s Reports, Standing Committee’s Reports, and the Slate of Candidates for the 2021-2022 Board. The last page of the Package is a Proxy Voting Form which lists all of the items to be voted upon and which you will use to vote. One slight change on the Proxy Vote form is in Motion 10 where you are asked to vote “To accept the 2020-2021 Board Members”. This should read “To accept the 2021-2022 Board Members”. On the reverse side of the Proxy Voting Form is space for you to ask questions you may have regarding the reports in the Package. We will need these forms back to the Board Secretary, Cathy Keen, by September 7th.  These can be left in her internal mail slot [#152] or at her home, 152 PRR.  This will give enough time for the Board to tally the votes and prepare answers to your questions. As we must use the proxy votes to determine a quorum it is essential that at least 50 households vote. If you have concerns which you would like to discuss with the Board, please contact Linda Bell (519-993-2852) to schedule an appointment at a Board Meeting.

As stated in the Bylaws of the PMHA item 3.2, only paid-up members of PMHA will be able to vote, so please, be sure that you have paid your membership for 2021-2022, as votes from households who have not paid their membership will not be counted. If you haven’t paid your membership, please contact Gabriele Filce (treasurer) at 519-843-2125 to arrange payment.

Attend the PMHA AGM on ZOOM

This year we will be “broadcasting” the AGM on Zoom. All houses with an email address will receive an invitation to join this meeting on the 13th of September. Your microphones and video will be turned off to conserve bandwidth. If you wish to make a comment or ask a question, please use the “chat” function in Zoom. The meeting will be recorded and available for viewing after the meeting. If you are unfamiliar with Zoom, there will be a trial run on Wednesday September 8th, 2021, at 3:00 pm. If you have not used Zoom on your computer before, you should connect to this meeting at 2:45 pm to allow you to download a “plug-in” or the equivalent. If Zoom asks you to do this, accept. It is not necessary for you to have a Zoom account to attend the meeting.

Stay Safe Everyone
